The Fastback's unique properties lie in its sculpted shapes, greatly inspired by sports car design language. Not only is it ergonomic and comfortable to play, but it also features a powerful and versatile sound born from its handcrafted B&B Classic 61 pickups. The design is innovative enough to reach new horizons and conservative enough to be welcomed by the varied tastes of guitarists around the world.
The design process began with concept sketches on blank paper, followed by Photoshop, Autodesk Alias CAD surface modeling, rendering, and body milling with a CNC machine. Some parts were also cut and engraved with a laser machine. The final product was manually sanded, painted, polished, assembled, and adjusted.
The Fastback is not just a design marvel but also a technical masterpiece. It weighs 3.1Kg and features an Alder body finished in Apple Candy Red and lacquered with gloss polyurethane. The handcrafted Custom B&B Classic 61 Hot Humbuckers with Split-Coil, along with a full contact Babicz Hardtail bridge, contribute to its powerful sound. The modern C shape maple neck with rosewood fingerboard is finished in gloss urethane, adding to the guitar's aesthetic appeal.
Playing the Fastback is as simple as plugging it into an amplifier and jumping on stage. The design project, which started in September 2018 and finished in February 2019, was developed in Gijon, Spain. The experience of developing other electric guitars provided a solid knowledge background that helped to keep an accurate control of this design and all its characteristics at every stage.
The Fastback has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Golden A' Musical Instruments Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. It is a testament to the Fastback's extraordinary excellence and its significant impact on the world of electric guitar design.
